I Break For Pigeons

Just a quickie update, cuz I have to get back to work. Needless to say, I'm taking a little mini-break from the pigeons (I blame the grass in Carrion). This is "My Flesh #2" and "My Flesh #3", snippets of tree bark. Each is 4x6 inches, graphite on paper.

Overall, I like these; I think they relate more to the Blackbird series. My plan is to do six of these total, and, hopefully, by next week I'll be jazzed for more pigeon-y goodness.

Rick > Thanks! I hope you mean surfing. :D Although I got a chuckle out of "suffering".

Sunny > Oi, sorry it took so long to post your comment! I've been at work all day, and I've got the moderation turned on. :) Thanks much! (and thanks for your patience!)

Yep! I will have a workshop in the fall, don't worry. :) It will be on Wednesday from 4-7p though, much earlier than last semester's.

In terms of watercolor.. Camille La Pointe-Lyons is the instructor I was trying to think of. She teaches "Watercolor Painting 1" in the Fine Art dept. Unfortunately, her website doesn't work any longer, but if you're ever at 60 Federal, sometimes there are posters for the class that show pictures of her work.

You can also read a course description here: http://www.academyart.edu/degrees/course_catalog.jsp

What I've seen from Watercolor 1, it focuses on tight, finished works. I think Watercolor 2 (same teacher) is more sketchy, plein air landscape. It's a newer class, though, so I haven't seen the work from it yet. :)

Hope this helps!

Oh, almost forgot, Eddie Rodriguez (he's on my blog links, I think it's http://eddieorodriguez.blogspot.com) took Camille's Watercolor class and really liked it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you had any specific questions about it.

I never personally took her class, so he might have more insight. :)

I would love to see these in person - I can only imagine the amount of detail hiding in this diminutive size. Lovely
