Still alive..

Yeah, sorry I haven't posted in a while. Albert and I have spent the last three weeks looking for a new place to live, and then we spent time moving, so it's been hectic. Just to let you know though, I updated the website recently.. I was hoping to do some more things to it before I announced the update, but that'll be an even longer wait. Anyway.. until I get settled and post up my current work-in-progress, here's another blind contour for you:

Blind contours..

A few blind contour sketches from the past couple of days. Somehow I feel like the lines in these are much more expressive and exciting than when I actually *try* to see what I'm doing.

Alive and well.. sort of.

Sorry for the lack of posts and what-not. I've been so busy lately with different things that I just haven't had time to update. Hopefully soon all that new artwork I've been cranking out in the past four months will make an appearance on the website. In the mean time though, here's a couple of photos I took this morning. :)

After a weekend of staying indoors, nursing a cold, I was ready to run around and do things as soon as I felt better. That means photos! Yay, photo! :)

New work.

More prisma pieces. These are each 5x7", and were done in the last three weeks. I've been doing one of these a week, so by the end of the semester I should have a nice little series going. :) Still considering titles for these.

First Thursday, the show opening!

So this show was actually much bigger and louder than the previous one. We had a dj and a mass crowd of people that made it exceptionally difficult to move around the gallery. It was so much fun! (a special thanks to everyone who came! It was really wonderful seeing you, and hearing your opinions about my work!). Unfortunately, I didn't snag as many photos as I had thought, but here's what I did get. :)

61st post!

Yeah, so, I've actually had this finished since last week or so, but I've been too busy to post it. :) The photo actually had more glare on it than I originally thought also, so some of the dark parts of it are washed out. When I photograph it officially, it'll be much better.

Reception photos!

So, before I clock out for the night.. here's a few reception photos! :) We had a great turnout tonight.. toward the latter part of the night both rooms of the gallery were packed! Yeah.. I always have to show the food. Kudos to Anita Shih for pulling together a fantastic munchie buffet! And lastly.. a photo of me with my friend Jared next to the Pop Top series! Yeah.. so.. this is what it looks like so far. It's about 1/4th of the way done, I guess. It's going to take a while. :)

More in progress stuff..

Well, progress has been relatively slow the past week, as I have been searching for work, and nursing a cold. :P Here's a new pencil piece I just started today though. This one will be 12x16", a little larger than what I've been working with lately. After doing so many small pieces I got a craving to go larger. :)

New drawing..

I'm starting to do a lot more prisma drawings.. mainly because I realized that they're pretty easy to do at home, even with bad lighting! This piece is roughly the same size as Warmth. It's about 5x7", I think. Still in progress, and I'm not sure what to name it. Any suggestions? :P Oh, and I'm still working steadily on Living Composed 2. It's coming along nicely, I'm really excited about it! I'll be sure to post an in progress shortly. Also, the photo is one Albert took of me today when he was messing around with my camera. :) I thought it was cute (though my arms look rather sausagey!)

In progress - Living Composed #2

I just started this piece last week, around the same time I started Warmth. This is acrylic on a 18x24" canvas. Today was the first day the painting started to come together. For a while, I wasn't sure about the purple background, and for a few days I didn't touch it for fear I would ruin any potential.

Site remodel..

Just a quick note to let you guys know that the website has been remodeled, and there are some new pieces up also. Warmth has been added to the gallery, along with some photographs. :D Let me know what you guys think about the new design! (especially if you find any bugs)

New piece..

I usually don't post my more polished pieces up on the blog (I like to save them for my site updates! :D), but since I've been posting just photographs, I thought I would make it up. I'm thinking of naming this one "Warmth". It's prismacolor pencil on paper, and it's about 5x8" or so.

One last photo..

Ok, this'll be the last photo I post for a while (I swear!!). I want to get back to posting paintings and sketches.. but I just can't help myself. I think photography has been really good for me, and I recommend it to other artists as well. I feel like my sense of composition, values, and my ability to recognize good lighting have all improved. Now if I can just bring that into my painting! So here's a photo from this afternoon.. shot at Yerba Buena park, next to the Metreon.
