80th post!

Yay, 80 posts! :D I have a couple of exciting announcements also, so it's perfect timing. First off, some of my work has been accepted by Studio Gallery. So I will have a number of pieces up for purchase (including this small 2x3" pencil piece, and my Pop Top bottle caps) this November in Studio Gallery's annual "Tiny" show (I'll post the official postcard when I get them sometime in October). :) The show is renowned for having tons of super-affordable pieces too, so if you're an art collector (or are considering becoming one), that's one show you don't want to miss. Link to Studio Gallery And finally, there was a small press release today in the 96 hours segment of the San Francisco Chronicle that I'd like to share, it's for the "Works on Paper" show at Berkeley Art Center. So if you haven't seen the show yet, you have two days left to check it out!

Updates and in progress..

I forgot to note earlier this week that I made a huge update to the main website (added a bunch of drawings). I'm also planning to move most of the work from the website into an Archives page (which will be coming soon). I feel like my work is moving in a little bit of a different direction, so even though my Care Bears photographs and Pop Top paintings are still recent work (earlier this year), I want to separate them from what I'm doing now. I'm also starting to get a little bit back into oil painting. :) It makes such a huge difference having good lighting and enough space to work, honestly. This is 5x7" on massonite (yay for small sizes). P.S. Sorry for the crappy photo. I took it at the end of the day, so I didn't set up to shoot it properly.

New work.

I wasn't going to post this for a while (as I am in the tweaking phase), but seeing as I haven't updated the blog in *really* long time, I decided to give you guys a sneak peek. This piece is roughly 16x20", done in prismacolor pencil.

First Thursday, the show opening!

So this show was actually much bigger and louder than the previous one. We had a dj and a mass crowd of people that made it exceptionally difficult to move around the gallery. It was so much fun! (a special thanks to everyone who came! It was really wonderful seeing you, and hearing your opinions about my work!). Unfortunately, I didn't snag as many photos as I had thought, but here's what I did get. :)

Crumpled paper sketches..

Why crumpled paper? I have no idea. :P But they were fun anywho.

61st post!

Yeah, so, I've actually had this finished since last week or so, but I've been too busy to post it. :) The photo actually had more glare on it than I originally thought also, so some of the dark parts of it are washed out. When I photograph it officially, it'll be much better.

Upcoming show!

This month the Pop Top series is on display once again at 688 Sutter street! If you missed seeing the series before, here's your second chance! :)

Still more in progress..

Yeah.. so.. this is what it looks like so far. It's about 1/4th of the way done, I guess. It's going to take a while. :)

More in progress stuff..

Well, progress has been relatively slow the past week, as I have been searching for work, and nursing a cold. :P Here's a new pencil piece I just started today though. This one will be 12x16", a little larger than what I've been working with lately. After doing so many small pieces I got a craving to go larger. :)

New drawing..

I'm starting to do a lot more prisma drawings.. mainly because I realized that they're pretty easy to do at home, even with bad lighting! This piece is roughly the same size as Warmth. It's about 5x7", I think. Still in progress, and I'm not sure what to name it. Any suggestions? :P Oh, and I'm still working steadily on Living Composed 2. It's coming along nicely, I'm really excited about it! I'll be sure to post an in progress shortly. Also, the photo is one Albert took of me today when he was messing around with my camera. :) I thought it was cute (though my arms look rather sausagey!)

In progress - Living Composed #2

I just started this piece last week, around the same time I started Warmth. This is acrylic on a 18x24" canvas. Today was the first day the painting started to come together. For a while, I wasn't sure about the purple background, and for a few days I didn't touch it for fear I would ruin any potential.

New piece..

I usually don't post my more polished pieces up on the blog (I like to save them for my site updates! :D), but since I've been posting just photographs, I thought I would make it up. I'm thinking of naming this one "Warmth". It's prismacolor pencil on paper, and it's about 5x8" or so.

Site Update

Megwolfe.net has finally been updated with a few new paintings, including the three from the group show this month (which will be up at 688 Sutter in San Francisco until February). Also.. yes, I have all the photos from the show opening! Yeah! :D My work.. A few of the early birds. :) The DJ! Thanks to everyone who dropped in for the opening reception. I hope you all enjoyed it, you made the night a big success!
