New In Progress.. Plus MegWolfe.net Updates!

New in progress. This one stems from a, presumably, pest-free tree. Did I mention that my bonsai still has bug problems? We're working to fix that though.. Also, I've uploaded eight of my newest works into Photo Albumns on MegWolfe.net. Three images in "Misc", one in "If I Run", and four in "Current Work", which is an overview, and preview, of my upcoming series.

Lastly, new sketch for 06/22/08! YEAH! I totally never update this on a weekly basis, so you'll be lookin' at those creepy skulls for a while. I like them though. They're dramatic.

Another Pigeon Drawing, Another In Progress

Between throwing sheep at Albert on Facebook, and picking mites ("aphids") off of our bonsai tree, I actually managed to finish the 22x30 inch pencil piece I was working on. I also started a new one. A much.. smaller one.Unfortunately, this photo is from yesterday morning; I've since rocked along with this little 8x10 inch piece-of-sanity, finishing the first bird completely. Also, just to let you guys know, I updated megwolfe.net with a new Sketch for 06/04/08.

Long Awaited In Progress

The progress report is a little late, as I've pretty much finished the details of the piece. Just working my way down now. Should have it finished soon. The full image is 22 x 30 inches, wax pencil on paper.

Finished Pigeon Drawing

Finally managed to finish this piece after two or so months of work. Over all, I'm satisfied. I think the texture of the paper and medium works well for the grittiness of this image, but in future pieces I'll probably revert back to the refined, graphite look that the Blackbirds have.

I'm also starting a new piece (similar, but bigger), so I'll post updates on it too.
(This piece is 22 x 30 inches, Wax Pencil on Paper - each image is 9 x 12 inches)

Drawing In Progress (Continued)

Just finished the first half of this piece late last night. This image is 9.5 x 12 inches, and there's a second image directly below this one that I'm about to start. All together, the piece will be 22 x 30 inches.

I also updated megwolfe.net with a cafe sketch for 04/09/08. There have been some minor typepad issues with the original Sketch folder, but hopefully it will soon be resolved.

In Progress..

I thought I would take a little break from the shows and post up some in progress work. I've been working on this one for a few weeks now, but it's been off and on due to medical emergencies, upcoming shows, and everything else.

I've been working it piece by piece (like a puzzle), and this is just a snippet of a much larger whole. As usual, the medium is wax pencil on paper.

Quickie..

Just a quick note.. I'm currently working on a substantial update to the website, reorganizing some gallery pages, adding tons of new work, etc.. I should have it finished in the next two weeks. Almost done! Meanwhile, I was sorely disappointed by the printing company I chose to have my cards printed. :( It's the second time I've tried an internet printing company, one highly recommended to me, and it's the second time I've been disappointed. So I'm planning a Kinko's run this week to get some quickie prints. In terms of the cards though, I'm really amazed with the response I've gotten from you guys. It's a lot of fun getting to know a little bit about the people who visit, and I'm looking forward to sending the cards out. :) And, of course, the offer still stands, so if you'd like a card, feel free to e-mail me with a mailing address and I'll put you on my greeting card list (see "Happy Thanksgiving" post). The cut-off date is December 20th.

Some changes..

I always say that I want to update this blog more frequently, and now I feel I should. I want to stay in touch, and if possible, I would like to journal some of the things I think about regularly as an artist, to, hopefully, reach out to others that may feel the same way. Hopefully it will also be somewhat encouraging, because being an artist is really scary when you think you're out there by yourself! My other goal is to offer some insight to the artist's way of living (and thinking) to those who aren't artists (photos of my studio, noted thoughts from First Thursdays). I find more and more every day that most people don't really understand what we do, and some don't really care. While I can't make people care about what I do, I would like to talk to those who are, at least, curious. Call it an early New Years resolution. So, that's it. I'll post some stuff shortly. I have a notebook full of ramblings and observations, and you can bet I'll also be posting some more works in progress (because I never post enough of those). P.S. If this sounds at all interesting, I recommend signing up to receive my blog updates in your mailbox. It's the easiest way to keep up with me and what's going on.

New work.

I wasn't going to post this for a while (as I am in the tweaking phase), but seeing as I haven't updated the blog in *really* long time, I decided to give you guys a sneak peek. This piece is roughly 16x20", done in prismacolor pencil.

Still more in progress..

Yeah.. so.. this is what it looks like so far. It's about 1/4th of the way done, I guess. It's going to take a while. :)

More in progress stuff..

Well, progress has been relatively slow the past week, as I have been searching for work, and nursing a cold. :P Here's a new pencil piece I just started today though. This one will be 12x16", a little larger than what I've been working with lately. After doing so many small pieces I got a craving to go larger. :)

New drawing..

I'm starting to do a lot more prisma drawings.. mainly because I realized that they're pretty easy to do at home, even with bad lighting! This piece is roughly the same size as Warmth. It's about 5x7", I think. Still in progress, and I'm not sure what to name it. Any suggestions? :P Oh, and I'm still working steadily on Living Composed 2. It's coming along nicely, I'm really excited about it! I'll be sure to post an in progress shortly. Also, the photo is one Albert took of me today when he was messing around with my camera. :) I thought it was cute (though my arms look rather sausagey!)

In progress - Living Composed #2

I just started this piece last week, around the same time I started Warmth. This is acrylic on a 18x24" canvas. Today was the first day the painting started to come together. For a while, I wasn't sure about the purple background, and for a few days I didn't touch it for fear I would ruin any potential.
